My name is Adam Foote and I am the School Counselor here at Borah Elementary as well as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
I was born and raised on a farm outside of Cleveland, Ohio, with a strong family heritage of working the earth dating back seven generations. I earned my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from a small private school in Indiana named Taylor University, where I also engaged in intercollegiate football. From this experience I believe I was enstilled a team and goal oriented perspective with a focus on development and achievement. After college, I then transplanted myself to the Inland Northwest as a part of a northern adventure.
I then began a career in mental health here in North Idaho working as a PSR worker and then as a direct care staff at a transitional inpatient residential psychiatric facility. While working, I was also putting in many hours to complete my Masters of Social Work from Eastern Washington University. Upon completion of graduate school and licensure, I began practicing as a general practitioner therapist in the communities of Coeur d’Alene and Wallace, until I found my dream career at my current position as the School Counselor at Borah Elementary. As I would characterize myself as a “kid at heart”, the primary focus of my practice has been working with children and families. I try to take a very innovative and “out of the box” approach in order to reach out to the growing diversified populations of our community.
Two quotes best characterizing my therapeutic mindset are:
“If I always do what I have always done, I will always get what
I have always got”
“Grant me the Serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
Courage to change the things I can,
and Wisdom to know the difference.”
If you happen to have any questions and/or concerns which you believe I could be of assistance to you, please don't hesitate to contact me. It is my pleasure to serve this great community!
